Training and Professional Development

Appraisal

Appraisal is a key component of personal development and is a key part of undergraduate and postgraduate training.  Information how, when and why of appraisal is found here.

Assessment

A core part of Foundation Training is the requirement to undertake a number of summative assessments.  Detailed information on a suggested timetable of assessments and how they fit into the overal training programme is available.

miniPAT

miniPAT (mini-Peer-Assessment-Tool, otherwise known as 360 appraisal), if used constructively, is probably the most useful tool to monitor progress and fine-tune personal development throughout training.  In Foundation Training, miniPAT is used in post one of F1 and post two of F2, with options to use it at other times if required.  The school uses an online process.  Detailed information on its use and interpreting the results can be found in this section.

Generic Skills

A programme of five mandatory study days during F1 and 6 days during F2 are deliver support for the generic skills components of the Foundation Curriculum.  An overview of each day is accessible to all. Trainees within the school can access supporting material for further study for each day.  The timetable can be downloaded from the downloads section of the site (see below).

Downloads

All documents including school policies and forms can be found in this section.  However, this is only accessible to users who are logged in.

Learning links

Learning links provides a resource of web pages/sites which colleagues within the school believe support the Foundation Curriculum.  Sites can be 'rated' so the best resources are listed first.  Unfortunately this service is only available to staff and trainees within the school.  Each page/site is linked to the relevant section within the curriculum .

F2 matching

NYEC Foundation School uses a process of collaborative matching to allocate F2 programmes.  All the information about how this is done, and, when active, the online process is in this section.
