Election to F1 rep usually takes place in October each year. From 2010, F2 representatives are also elected within each trust. - Grimsby: 1 F1 and 1 F2
- Hull: 2 F1 and 2 F2
- Scunthorpe: 1 F1 and 1 F2
- Scarborough: 1 F1 and 1 F2

F1: Adnan Raja
Up until a couple of months ago I had never travelled further north than Birmingham, I never studied at HYMS Medical School, and I had never seen signs for 'The South' on a motorway before. However I don’t see these as disadvantages for applying for the role as the NYEC Foundation School Trainee Representative, instead I feel this gives me a unique exterior perspective into how things run at our Foundation School. more . . .
I’ve always been an active member of organisations and societies playing roles that have influenced the outcome of fellow member’s educational experience. During my final year in medical school I designed a study to gather information from students, doctors and lecturers about their ideas of our curriculum at the time. The data from this study was used directly to help create a framework to base our future curriculum on, a process that is currently ongoing as we speak.
Given the nature of the job I feel that I would be an ideal candidate to fulfil the role as a representative of a member of bodies. Apart from implementing necessary organisation and communication skills, I also intend to combine my work ethic and sheer enthusiasm to help execute policies that will both benefit our education and the education of future Foundation Programme trainees. I will always strive to absorb all the information that is passed through me in order to make the most justified and representative decisions, ultimately having a significant impact on our current and future training.

I am a Foundation Year Two Trainee who is currently working for Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust. I lived in the West Midlands before moving to Hull for what it has got to offer. So, I ranked Yorkshire and Humber, and subsequently Hull, as my first choice. I was elected as an F1 Representative by my colleagues in my trust to represent and express their views to the NYEC Foundation School. Later on, I became NYEC F1 representative. more . . .
Also, I am BMA UK Junior Doctors Committee member, representing BMA Yorkshire Regional Junior Doctors Committee. As you might be able to tell, I get involved in various aspects affecting Doctors in Training in Yorkshire region.
Working with NYEC Foundation School and my local trust, here are few things I have been involved in and currently working on:
- Trying to find a practical solution for Rota gaps
- Making sure the Junior Doctors Locum Claim Form is fair
- Attending Inter Deanery Transfer Panel for this region
- Promoting Hull Doctors' Mess, including Free Lunch events
- Discussing and approving the Trust's Travel and Relocation Policy for Junior Doctors
- Raising F1s queries to the Foundation Programme Training Directors and Foundation School Director
- Supporting some of my F1 colleagues who needed some clarification of certain aspects of the e-portfolio
- Making sure the deadline for F2 matching is accurate on the School Website for this year matching process
- Planning to take part in the Overseas Doctors Induction day for the next year take
- Planning to include certain information in the F1s induction day next year (Doctors Mess, LNC, travel expenses, etc)
- Collate information from the trainee to feedback to the Foundation School on how the Foundation programme is being implemented
