Quality Management
Quality can be considered under three headings:
- Quality of trainees
- Quality of trainers
- Quality of training
We consider these in the same domains published by PMETB/GMC:
- Domain 1: Patient safety
- Domain 2: Quality assurance, review and evaluation
- Domain 3: Equality, Diversity and Opportunity
- Domain 4: Recruitment, selection and appointment
- Domain 5: Delivery of curriculum including assessment
- Domain 6: Support and development of Trainees, Trainers, and local faculty
- Domain 7: Management of Education and Training
- Domain 8: Educational Resources and capacity
- Domain 9: Outcomes
Quality of medical training is is carried out at three levels:
quality assurance
This is the responsibility of PMETB and the GMC. They assure a the quality of the deanery processes.
quality management
The Postgraduate Deanery oversees Quality Management of Foundation delivery by the Local Education Providers.
Quality Control
This Local Education Provider is responsible for checking the quality of delivery within the provider.
