Academic Programmes
Academic Programmes currently have a separate recruitment process, which is designed to be completed BEFORE the online application process opens (usually recruitment takes place between June and September) in order that unsuccessful applicants can still apply through the online system for a foundation programme. For information about academic programmes please choose the 'Academic Programmes' section from the menu on the left in the vacancies section of this web site
detailed information can be found on the deanery web site
Foundation recruitment 2011
Yorkshire & the Humber - One Unit of Application
Recruitment for August 2011 follows the national process and timeline. Further information can be found on the UK Foundation Programme web site.
The North Yorkshire and East Coast Foundation School (NYEC) forms part of the One Unit of Application that includes the West Yorkshire (WY) and the South Yorkshire (SY) Foundation Schools, and is under the umbrella of Yorkshire & the Humber Postgraduate Deans Office.
Humber Bridge
Applicants who wish to apply for the North Yorkshire East Coast, West Yorkshire or South Yorkshire Foundation Schools should rank Yorkshire & the Humber as their first choice Foundation School.
Applicants allocated to the Yorkshire & the Humber Deanery will be asked to rank the programmes for all the schools in order of your personal preference on the national FPAS system. Please be aware that failure to rank all the programmes may result in applicants being randomly allocated to a post in any of the three Foundation Schools.
More details regarding the details of F1 Programmes, including job descriptions in North Yorkshire East Coast can be found by following the links in the left hand menu.
For information regarding the geographical area of the West or South Foundation Schools please follow the links to the right.
Interviews
All successful applicants allocated to the Yorkshire & Humber Deanery will be required to attend an interview, these interviews form part of the pre employment checks and are to ensure that applicants are fit to practice medicine within the NHS.
Failure to achieve the minimum requirements/score at interview will result in an applicant’s allocation being withdrawn and such applicants will be referred back to their Medical School.
The interview score will also be used as part of your overall score for allocation to a programme. This will be as follows:
1 x application score, 1x Academic Score, 2x Interview Score.
The interviews consist of 3 x 7 minute stations consisting of a face to face interview with a panel of 2 people exploring different areas of competencies focusing on an applicants' ability to be a safe doctor. There are no simulated patients or demonstrations required in any of the stations.
The interviews will be held in Sheffield in January 2011. Further details regarding the dates, times and venue will be confirmed soon and published on this page.
Reserve List
Applicants who are allocated to the Yorkshire & the Humber Deanery from the reserve list will also be required to attend an interview as outlined above which will be held at Don Valley House, which we anticipate will be held in April 2011, June 2011 & July 2011. Further confirmation of actual dates will be confirmed as soon as possible.
Allocation to Foundation Programmes
Applicants who have applied to the Yorkshire & the Humber Deanery, and who are allocated to the North Yorkshire East Coast Foundation and
West Yorkshire Foundation Schools from August 2011 will be allocated to an F1 programme in the first instance and
subsequently matched to the F2 year
during the first year.
Applicants allocated to South Yorkshire Foundation School will be allocated to a full two year foundation programme. Please see
the other foundation school websites
for more detailed information regarding this process in South and West Yorkshire.
Further information about the NYECFS matching process.
Please note that all posts for F2 are correct for 2010. However this is subject to change & progression to F2 will be on the basis of achievement of F1 sign off.
Please note that the offer of a programme is not the same of the offer of a job. If the application is successful, applicants are allocated a foundation programme place through the foundation school. Once applicants have confirmed acceptance of a programme, the employing trust will commence pre-employment checks. Once they are satisfied, they will offer applicants a contract of employment.
The Deanery cannot offer any information regarding the salary or any banding supplicants for posts or provide any documents that may be required for mortgage/rental applications. Such information may be provided by the Trust along with the contract of employment.
Linked Applications to Yorkshire and the Humber Deanery
Linked applications to WYFS & NYECFS will be honored when allocating to programmes - such applicants will be offered programmes in the same trust.
Due to the small geographical size of the school and the two year rotations, linked applications in South Yorkshire Foundation School will
not be honored when allocating to programmes.
